The Classi cation of Finitely Spreading Graphs
نویسنده
چکیده
Thomassen recently introduced the concept of a nitely spreading graph: an innnite graph whose edges can be oriented, each in one, both, or neither direction, so that every vertex has nite out-degree and every ray has a forward oriented tail. He conjectured that a graph is nitely spreading if and only if it is bounded|equivalently, if it contains none of three speciied innnitely spreading graphs. We prove Thomassen'sconjecture in amended form, adding a fourth minimal obstruction to the three conjectured ones.

متن کاملFirst order Gaussian graphs for e#cient structure classi$cation
First order random graphs as introduced by Wong are a promising tool for structure-based classi$cation. Their complexity, however, hampers their practical application. We describe an extension to $rst order random graphs which uses continuous Gaussian distributions to model the densities of all random elements in a random graph. These First Order Gaussian Graphs (FOGGs) are shown to have severa...

متن کاملFour types of e¤ect modication - a classication based on directed acyclic graphs
By expressing the conditional causal risk di¤erence as a sum of products of stratum speci c risk di¤erences and conditional probabilities, it is possible to give a classi cation of the types of causal relationships that can give rise to e¤ect modi cation on the risk di¤erence scale. Directed acyclic graphs make clear the necessary causal relationships for a particular variable to serve as an e¤...
متن کاملRepresentation of Concepts as Frames
Concepts can be represented as frames, i.e., recursive attribute-value structures. Frames assign unique values to attributes. Concepts can be classi ed into four groups with respect to both relationality and referential uniqueness: sortal, individual, proper relational, and functional concepts. The paper de nes frames as directed graphs with labeled nodes and arcs and it discusses the graph str...
